Artis, the oldest zoo in the Netherlands, founded in 1838, shows its historical character even before you walk through the gates: two golden eagles perched proudly above the main entrance. People enjoy the atmosphere of 19th Century gardens: the winding streets, trees and interesting sculptures and monumental historic buildings. Artis is a haven of tranquility in the heart of Amsterdam.

Opening times:
Open daily from 9am – 6pm
During summer (June, July and August) also open on Saturday evenings till sunset, with a special program with events for children, music, guided tours and more.
